The Donkey All Breeds
Society of Australia Inc.has
evolved from what was originally the 'English
Donkey Society of Australia Inc.', which
was founded in 1976. Since that time it has
grown to encompass all Donkey Breeds of
Australia, in order to cater for the growing
interest in this wonderful animal, the
preservation of Australia's heritage breed,
and the integrity of imported Donkey breeds
imported to Australia.
The
main focus of the Society is to preserve the
different breeds and types of Donkeys and
Mules in Australia by maintaining accurate
Registries and Stud Books for each breed and
type, and also to promote the qualities of
these versatile and personable animals.
D.A.B.S.A aims to sponsor an array of Donkey
events and activities, and to lobby for the
inclusion of Donkey events at equine
venues.
Individual registers are maintained for each
breed/type of Donkey, enabling histories to
be traced, more informed breeding, and to
support the future integrity of each breed.
D.A.B.S.A also recognises the importance of
providing support and encouragement for
first time Donkey owners, and endeavours to
provide comprehensive information both
throughout the site, and through the
availability of fellow members through the
discussion Forum available to registered
members of the Society.
Of
course we all hope to also share the joy of
Donkey ownership through our organisation.
New members are always welcome, whether they
be current Donkey owners, or simply Donkey
lovers who would like some involvement in
the Society or to gain some knowledge.
Membership is open to breeders and Donkey
lovers who are interested in the promotion
and preservation of the different breeds and
types of Donkeys and Mules in Australia, and
the maintenance of an Australian based
Studbook relevant to the development and
documentation of the Donkey population in
our country.
